A printmaking journey.

My interest in printmaking began as curiosity. This curiosity led to an an investigation on how to transform my photographic images and print them on paper. I start out by using computer imaging software to overlay multiple photographs and manipulate them into what I like to call “mashups”, two or more images combined into one image through layer manipulation. The process for getting the mashups on paper is to create photo polymer plates and print them using an etching press where I incorporate a la poupee and chine colle processes. I am keenly interested in the layering effects of incorporating chine colle in my prints. I have been experimenting with a variety of papers for this purpose. One of my favorites is silk tissue because it is quite thin and provides the opportunity for multilayered transparency. The ability to color the plates using the a la poupee process adds another layer of mystery to the imagery I am working with on my printmaking journey.
